JAMIESON RANCH VINEYARDS

Jamieson Ranch Vineyards has always been a beautiful property but under new management, it has been taken to a new level. The sprawling facility located in American Canyon resembles a western mountain lodge and it offers guests stunning views of the Napa Valley, the Canyon and on a clear day, the San Francisco Bay.

It is the southernmost winery in Napa Valley. The spectacular main building houses a spacious Tasting Room that was actually built around old oak trees that reach up through the ceilings and the massive antler chandelier in the center of the room is a true masterpiece. A wraparound veranda decorated for a guest’s total comfort serves as another tasting area and on weekends musical entertainment is offered.

If you are very lucky you may get to meet some very special members of the Jamieson Ranch family…the “Light Horses”. A Miniature Horse Therapy program and Foundation are part of the charitable efforts supported by a percentage of the proceeds from the sales of the JRV Light Horse wines. These tiny horses visit hospitals, schools, Assisted Living Facilities and Hospices brightening the lives of many people.

The best upgrade of all at Jamieson Ranch is the outstanding wine. Since Bill Leigon became the President a few years ago they have quickly made major strides in enhancing the wine, now producing multiple 90-point plus varietals. We enjoy their entire portfolio but our “Absolute Must Tries” are: the 2012, “Double Lariat” Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, 2012, Reata Three County Pinot Noir, 2012, and Reata Carneros Chardonnay. 2013, Light Horse California Chardonnay and the 2103, Light Horse Pinot Noir are great everyday wines. 2012, Napa Valley Petite Syrah is also fabulous as is 2013, Napa Valley Viognier.

For our tasting experience, we had the absolute pleasure of having Chef Scott Ekstrom prepare us a sumptuous pairing dinner that consisted of our starter Bellweather Fromage, Chiogga Beets with a citrus reduction, Hearts of Palm, and crushed Marcona Almonds; the second course was Duck breast with Ruby Crescent Confit, Olive Jus, and whole grain mustard. Our third pairing was Braised Heritage Duroc Pork Belly with Black Beluga Lentils, Anjou Pear and Truffle Vinaigrette.

All of the dishes were perfectly paired with the Jamieson Ranch, Reata, and Light Horse wines to make it a beautiful dining experience in an exquisite and relaxed environment! Jamieson Ranch Vineyards is a must-stop when visiting Napa…you can relax and unwind, taste great wine and food and enjoy the magnificent surroundings.
