CROCKER & STARR WINERY
What happens when you take great grapes, all organically grown and the product of sustainable farming techniques, and, an amazing talent for designing magnificent wines…you get the Crocker & Starr Winery!
The partnership between Viticulturist, Charles Crocker and Winemaker, Pam Starr has created this “shining star” located in the St. Helena Appellation. They produce three-thousand cases of wine a year and it is no surprise that many of the vintages “sell out” upon release. Crocker & Starr grows the five Bordeaux varietals (cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, petit verdot and malbec) as well as sauvignon blanc from an 85-acre estate vineyard that has been continuously farmed since the 1870ʼ s.
We spent a delightful afternoon with Brent Sloan, the Director of Sales & Marketing, discovering the different Tasting Experiences that are offered. Brent met us on the Front Porch of the restored 1918 Farmhouse and we learned about the history of the winery and enjoyed a glass of the 2014, Crocker & Starr Sauvignon Blanc. We then went inside to partake of the Al Fresco Experience, which is designed to highlight the diverse flavor profiles of Crocker & Starr wines. Guests are guided through a sumptuous pairing of artisan cheeses and charcuterie with their estate wines. The superb and generous presentation is hand selected by a local culinary expert specifically for Crocker & Starr.
The Vineyard Tasting Experience is also available; guests can stroll through the vineyards sampling the fabulous estate wines of Crocker & Starr. Our Tasting “Absolute Must Tries”: the flagship wine, the Crocker & Starr, “Casali” Cabernet Franc, 2012; the 2012, Crocker & Starr Cabernet Sauvignon; the 2012, “Casali” Malbec blend and the 2014, Crocker & Starr Sauvignon Blanc.
All are superior wines that attest to the fact that Charlie Crocker and Pam Starr are a “Rock Star” team! Tasting experiences are by appointment only so please visit www.crockerstarr.com for more information or to book your reservations now!
