One of our favorite resorts in the Napa Valley is The Meritage Resort and Spa . Wine lovers know that the word “meritage” means “blend” and this luxury resort caters to its guests every whim with the perfect blend of facilities, amenities, and services. This sprawling property offers 322 luxurious guestrooms and suites with Tuscan-inspired decor, sumptuous bathrooms and private balconies or patios with a vineyard view.
The most unique aspect of the resort is the Estate Cave which houses Spa Terre located 40 feet below the surface of the earth making it the world’s first entirely underground spa. The 9,500 square foot, $7.5 million project features steam grottos, soaking pools, water walls, and lavishly appointed private treatment rooms for individuals and couples. Guests can rejuvenate and pamper themselves in this Mediterranean style oasis. The Cave also includes the Trinitas Cellars Tasting Room where guests can enjoy custom flights of Trinitas Cellars wines and artisan chocolate pairings and 3,992 square feet of space perfect for meetings and events up to 200.
The resort is one of the largest venues for events in the area, boasting 50,000+ square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor space. Exceptional wedding packages are available and the only private wedding chapel in Napa Valley, Our Lady of the Grapes Chapel, is on the premises. Guests can enjoy the two swimming pools, three whirlpools, outdoor fireplaces, bocce ball court, and hiking trails through the nine acres of hillside vineyards or they can work out in style in the 1,650 square foot fitness studio with glorious views of the vineyards.
Dining options at the Meritage are many. We enjoyed a romantic dinner at the Siena Restaurant and had a chance to meet with Victor Vargas the Food & Beverage Supervisor. The Heirloom Tomato Salad with parmesan mousse, balsamic caviar, Meyer lemon- basil gremolata and the Pan Seared Half Mary’s Chicken with creamy potato, rapini, Meyer lemon, and piquillo pepper confit were delectable.
One of the coolest bars we have ever been to is the Crush Ultra Lounge.
This sports themed entertainment lounge is the place to be for fun with its 6 bowling lanes, a pool table and, of course, lots of big screen TV’s. Guests can hit Blend for espressos, café lattes, teas, gelato and fresh baked goods or they can enjoy a glass of wine in The Commons Wine Bar.
Adjacent to the Meritage is its sister property the Vino Bello Resort. This upscale resort features 180 rooms and guests are welcome to enjoy the amenities of either resort. The Meritage Resort & Spa is a travelers dream come true…luxurious and comfortable, quiet and relaxing yet fun…it is the total “resort” package!
