SANDALS EMERALD BAY, GREAT EXUMA, BAHAMAS
Sandals purchased the former Four Seasons Resort on Great Exuma, Bahamas in 2009. They turned this purchase into a luxurious 500-acre resort on sparkling Emerald Bay which includes a Greg Norman-designed golf course. The Georgetown Airport is a mere 40-minute flight from Miami and also offers non-stop flights from Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, and Toronto. The Resort offers a pristine mile-long beach that is dotted by 404 Ocean View and Ocean Front Suites in a multitude of luxurious categories. You can choose from exclusive butler service for select suites or the ever-popular Club Service with a separate Club Lounge that will cater to any of your whims or needs while enjoying this exclusive world-class resort. We found the Red Lane Spa to be one of the most expansive and beautiful spas of any resort that we have ever visited, and it was connected to a very nice gym and workout facility that was much more expansive than most resorts offer. The resort offers two pools – one a quiet pool and the other a more bustling main pool. Between the two, there are five full-service bars including a swim pool bar at the main pool which offered unlimited premium brand drinks. SANDALS EMERALD BAY, GREAT EXUMA, BAHAMAS
Of course, Sandals is known for its variety of restaurants and unlimited fine dining along with unlimited drinks. Emerald Bay is certainly no different offering seven restaurants which include: The white tablecloth Il Cielo which features classic Italian dishes with emphasis on a Tuscan dining experience; La Parisienne another white tablecloth dining experience with white-glove service and offering a classic French menu; Barefoot by the Sea restaurant is an outdoor restaurant right on the edge of the spectacular Emerald Bay beach featuring fresh seafood and island specialties for lunch and dinner daily; Bahama Bay restaurant offers a sumptuous buffet breakfast and lunch and an a la carte dinner menu in another white tablecloth dinner setting – the lunch buffet has a different theme each day, while the a la carte dinner is highlighted by local fish dishes; Dino’s Pizza is open during the day and offers fresh pizza out of their brick oven for lunch or an afternoon snack; the Drunken Duck British Pub offers classic British pub fare such as Shepherd’s Pie, Fish and Chips, and Bangers ‘N Mash in a great traditional pub atmosphere; Café de Paris is a Parisian style patisserie where you can stop for morning croissants, coffee, and other delectable items or in the evening for one of their wonderful desserts and ice cream. A wide variety of Mondavi wines is offered inclusive at the restaurants, and we had the pleasure of trying the manager’s wine list which is an additional fee at the restaurants and included champagne such as Dom Perignon, Moet and Chandon, a list of great white and red options including Joseph Drouhin Chardonnay, Estancia Oak Chardonnay, Kim Crawford Pinot Noir, Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, and Stag’s Leap Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The resort offers a multitude of fantastic activities including the 7,200-yard Par 72 Greg Norman-designed Championship Golf Course that rivals any Oceanside course in the world, unlimited scuba diving and water sports including canoes, kayaks, wind surfing, aqua strikes, snorkeling, sailboats, stand up boards and other activities.
If you want to bring your boat from other areas in the Bahamas or from South Florida, they offer a spectacular 150-slip water marina which can accommodate yachts up to 240 feet and which features floating docks, utilities, water, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and telephone. Sandals Emerald Bay offers free transportation from the nearby Georgetown Airport which is conveniently located 15 minutes from the resort.
