FIRST CRUSH, SAN FRANCISCO
First Crush is a casual-upscale restaurant in the heart of Union Square that features hand-crafted, quality food with fresh, local ingredients complemented with a 200 bottle, premium, boutique all-California wine list that has received the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence every year since 2001.
Guests have several interesting and unique wine flights to choose from. We decided on the CHARDS OF CLASS which included the Taft Street (unoaked) 2013 Sonoma County, the Melville 2012 Santa Rita Hills, and the Hartford Court 2012 Russian River Valley. We also tried the SOMMELIER FLIGHT, an eclectic selection: the Kenneth Volk “Silvaspoons Vineyard” Torrentes, 2012 Central Coast, Alta Mesa, a rich Rhône white; the Failla Pinot Noir, 2012 Sonoma Coast, a fragrant Pinot Noir; and the elegant COHO “Headwaters”, Red Blend 2011 Napa Valley.
Our wine flights were paired with the Artisan Charcuterie Flight and the Artisan Cheese Flight, and our entrees, the Prawns Ceasar Salad with housemade garlic croutons, parmesan cheese, Meyer lemon, and prawns sauteed with garlic and chardonnay and the impressive Chipotle Brined Berkshire Pork Loin Chop that was smothered in Gorgonzola cheese sauce, pineapple, spring onion chutney, onion strings, potato puree and sauteed spinach.
Our meal was sumptuous, the staff was very professional and knowledgeable and the atmosphere was urban “lively” yet charming and comfortable. Please visit www.firstcrush.com for further info!
